Dear ACDC list members,
In view of plans for further collaboration with the Migration and Diversity Center at the VU University, we would like to invite you to their next meeting on 21 May. The MDC group is rooted in the Faculty of Law. Their meetings have the same format as ACDC, stimulating discussion and exchange of expertise from different research paradigms. Members of ACDC can make a valuable contribution to these meetings with linguistic, discourse, political, geographic, social and organisational expertise. INVITATION
National connectedness and political identities. Feedback forum with Efe Kerem Sözeri,VU (Discussant: Liza M. Mügge, UvA)
DATE Tuesday 21 May 2013
TIME: 15.30-17.00
PLACE: Z009 in the VU Metropolitan Building
Efe Kerem Sozeri discusses ongoing research on the effect of migration on the feeling of connectedness to Turkish people among Turkish labour migrants and their descendants. The relationship between such connectedness and political orientations (Left-Right and Progressive Conservative attitudes) is questioned from a generational point of view. Preliminary results seem to indicate that younger generations feel less connected to Turkish people, and place themselves towards the Left and Progressive compared to first and second generation.
With our best wishes,
Your ACDC convenors
