Dear ACDC list members,
We hope everyone has had a good summer and settling into the new academic year. The time has come to get ACDC back in the swing. Quite a few people have signed up to our list over the summer and we would like to welcome them all. For those further afield from Amsterdam: you are welcome to join discussions or give a presentation yourself whenever your travels take you this way. Please contact us.

The news is that as of today, we have an interactive web site up in the ether.
Instructions to sign up:
Insert your email address in the box on the right-hand side of the site, underneath “Subscribe to receive ACDC updates” and press “follow”. This will send a confirmation email to the address you entered. Once you get that email (titled “Follow ACDC”), click on “confirm follow”. This will make sure that you are kept up to date when changes are made to the website. You can always unsubscribe at any point by clicking “Unsubscribe” on the email that you receive after having subscribed
The site is partially open to the public, but Archives and Members are password-protected.
The calendar keeps you informed of future events and the archives include notes and readings from all previous meetings, including our last meeting where Falk Ostermann discussed ways to analyse positions in French political discourse in the context of EU and NATO Libyan intervention plans (see Archive).

NEXT MEETING: 27th Sept. 12:45-14:15 hrs, Room 12A39 (VU main building) – Itziar Castello on Occupy Spain
Our next gathering will be on September 27th at lunch time from 12:45–14:15
The discussion will be led by Itziar Castello (Copenhagen Business School), who will be in Amsterdam for a brief visit. She is currently doing research into the discourses of Occupy movements and would like to present part of her data set and discuss a paper she wrote on Occupy Spain and the development of political opportunities. (Readings will follow in a separate mail, and on the web site, of course, so do sign up.)
After the discussion we would like to exchange ideas on future plans for ACDC. We have a couple of presentations lined up and new ideas are welcome. Feel free to bring your own lunch, tea, coffee. Soft drinks will be available.
Please let us know if you plan to attend on the 27th by replying to this message or mail acdcweb@gmail.com
